Transit Mix Pours for TXU
Transit Mix began work in July of ‘07 on TXU’s Oak Grove power plant located in Robertson County, TX. The power plant will be coal-fired and is just one of several new coal plants proposed by TXU. The project, directed by General Contractor, Fluor Corp., is expected to last through 2009 and will take almost 125,000 cubic yards of concrete! TXU is hoping to have the first unit online by 2009 and the second by 2010.
San Angelo Plant Wins TACA Award
In Transit Mix's ongoing efforts to improve the public perception of Ready Mix operations and related environmental stewardship, Transix Mix's San Angelo Plant (#1744) was awarded the Public Appearance Award at the 53rd Annual Meeting of Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association (TACA).
The award represents the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that has gone into the construction and operation of the plant.

Capricorn Ridge Wind Farm
Transit Mix began pouring concrete for D.H. Blattner for 136 wind towers at the Capricorn Ridge Wind Farm project located just east of Sterling City, Texas. The wind project calls for considerable volumes of concrete. To accommodate the project, Transit Mix set up two portable plants capable of producing more than 200 yards per hour. Trinity Structural Towers, Inc., Ft. Worth Plant #22, manufactured the wind towers which will be delivered in April by Trinity Logistics Group; these towers will constitute a larger portion of the project that utilizes GE turbines.
The wind project was originally expected to be complete in early June 2007, however the customer, Florida Power & Light, has decided to add 53 towers to the project, bringing the project total to 189 towers, and adding significant concrete volumes to the job. This will extend the project by 6 weeks with a target completion of mid to late summer.
